Happy Thanksgiving

I hope all of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. At Dillon's school they asked each of the children what they are thankful for and Dillon said he was thankful for playing. I asked him what else he was thankful for and he said "a happily ever after at the end of a story." Such a sweet boy!

We had a nice dinner with Gram and Papa and Uncle Craig.

Dillon didn't eat anything but pumpkin pie and whipped cream....at least the pumpkin is sort of nutritious!

Jason enjoyed his first Thanksgiving having turkey vegetable baby food.

It is hard to get a picture of the both of them and have them both smiling nicely for the camera. Of course the best picture turned out dark!

And they are done!

I've Been Lazy

But the boys haven't been! No real excuse for not posting anything lately, just laziness. I figured I'm entitled every once in a while right?!

Dillon reading to daddy and Jason.
Daddy lounging with the boys.
Dillon helping with Jason's snack.
These past few weeks it has been very wet and windy so we haven't been venturing out much. Dillon and I did go to see if we could find some salmon swimming up the local streams. We did manage to see a few. Art and Dillon had gone several days earlier but it was raining so hard they didn't end up getting out of the car. It was so cold, but Dillon had fun seeing the salmon...once we finally saw some.
We have pets now! For the time being anyway. Art ended up with an ant farm as a gag gift and decided it would be fun for him and Dillon to watch the ants build tunnels. We sent off for the ants and Dillon asked every day when they'd arrive until they finally came. The first few days it was really fun to watch them build the tunnels but they haven't been as active lately. Now he wants a cat!
Uncle Craig came over to give Dillon a much needed hair cut. I normally take him to someone to have his hair cut but I thought why not have Uncle Craig do it because there was no way I was going to try to get Dillon to sit still for that long!! Dillon did great and was so excited that it was Uncle Craig who cut his hair.
Jason isn't crawling yet, but he does a great army crawl. He definitely has no problem getting around. He can sit up like a pro now and after he sits up he claps his hands, it is so cute! Obviously he's seen me do it a few times. He has also discovered the doors on our TV cabinet...which he opens and closes endlessly.
I've moved Jason to sitting up during his bath, which works well most of the time, except when he decides he wants to lay down. He is slippery little sucker!
Jason loved it when Art played the guitar for him....but got mad when he moved it far enough away that he couldn't touch it anymore. He definitely lets you know when he's not happy about you taking something away from him.

BOB and HOP

You are probably thinking "strange title for a blog post", but there is meaning behind those two words. Dillon can spell and/or read both!
Dillon has been very interested in what letter words start with and how some words are spelled. So rather than just spell them out for him I figured I'd try to get him to sound them out to figure it out on his own. So far it has worked well. He wanted to know how to spell Bob and was so happy when he figured it out and has remembered it. Of course he'd figure out how to spell Bob before mom or dad!!
Today we were spelling words with magnets. I laid out H-O-P and he said "hop"! I was actually a little surprised that he knew the word out of context. We read the book Hop on Pop a lot and he knows the title of the book when he sees it, I'm assuming from the picture, but I didn't realize that he actually did know the word!

He's one smart cookie!!!

7 Months

Yep, Jason is already 7 months old! And yet still no crawling! I thought for sure Jason would have figured it out by now but so far he only goes backwards. But don't let the fact that he isn't crawling fool you into thinking he doesn't move around....because he can get everywhere! He is really good at rolling, moving on his tummy, and his own version of the Army crawl. If he sees something he wants to get to he'll go for it, especially if it has buttons (i.e. the DVR and the remote)!

He has a very good appetite and is still growing fast; he is one heavy kid. I checked the other day and at 6 months he weighed as much as Dillon did at 8 months! We are moving through food and so far he has not spit anything back out. We've tried juice but he isn't really interested in it.

Jason is sleeping better now during the day, but we are still having problems with him waking up more than he needs to at night. I am hoping that either when he figures out crawling or his bottom teeth finally come in the sleeping will get better.
As you can see he doesn't stay put anymore!
Trying some plum, not really a fan.
This rairly happens anymore, but he fell asleep on his own while playing.
This finger sure tastes good Gram!

I see you down there!
Here is a video of Jason trying to get into forward motion. It's cute.
