Past Few Weeks

Ok, so again time has gotten away from me and its been a while since a post.  So here is what's been going on the past few weeks.

Jason has definelty entered the phase of explosions!

Dillon got his very own bathrobe....doesn't he look cute!

Relaxing

Dillon's first day of preschool in the 3's class.  He is still trying to figure out how to get EVERYONE in the class to follow his lead, not sure how excited the teachers are about it!

Making brownies...licking the spoon is almost better than eating the brownie!

We went to the zoo on a beautiful September day after all the other kids had gone back to school.

Enjoying the beautiful warm September we are having.

"I put them under here...."

The other night I was putting Dillon to bed.  I sat down on the bed and he showed me his finger with a booger on it.  He then lifted his pillow and told me "I put them under here."  It took all my will power not to start laughing hystarically!

Dillon has also had some other great one liners in the past few days:

When we go to school one day day he walked in and told his teacher "mommy was mad at me."  Which was true because he wasn't cooperating to get to school on time. Don't you just love kids!!

Last night he told me "mommy, you should be a whale for Halloween."  Gee, thanks Dillon!

We were playing house and he 'went out side' the house and said "oh, no its raining, but the water will make Jason grow!"  So cute!!

The Terrible Twos are Behind Us????

Or have we just segwayed into the Trying Threes?  Yep, Dillon had his 3rd birthday, can you believe it?
He's a very healthy 3 year old and is on the tall side for his age (90th percentile).  He is very smart, a little too much so for his own good at times!  The doctor asked if it was a bit challenging discplining him since he is so smart.....does she have a fly on my wall?!

Dillon started school again in the 3s class this year; 2 days a week 2 hours each.  He just loves school and getting to play with all his friends.  He loves anything that can move and knows the name of any type of truck, car or plane....I think it runs in the family!  He isn't writing letters yet, but he 'writes' them in his own way.  He can spell his name and I bet that writing letters isn't too far off.  He loves to ride his trike but some days I think he'd rather be driving a car...I know, I know, it will be here before we know it!

Dillon has started helping cook and bake things and can be a helper and set the table...if he feels like cooperating.  He still loves to be around people but is getting better. little by little, about being able to spend time playing by himself.

We are completing starting over with the potty training.  We were oh, so close but then he got very, very sick at the end of July and that pretty much halted the training.  So we are starting over and not having as much luck the second time around.  He is just too busy to stop what he is doing!  I know we'll get there and school will probably be an incentive as he is the youngest and everyone else will most likely be potty trained.  Oh, how I want to be down to one child in diapers!

We had a little party on his birthday at our house with Gram and Papa.

Jason was exhausted by all the fun!
Daddy bought Dillon his own guitar!
Gram and Papa got Dillon a hard had...Papa is getting it to fit just right.
All ready to work.  Notice the rain boots...I told him to put shoes on and this is what he choose.
Building roads with his new trucks.
The weekend after his birthday we had a part for family and friends and Gram and Papas.
Daddy, Dillon and Jason arriving in style.
We got Dillon his very own chair...not that he ever sits down!
Dillon and his friend Camden playing before the other guests arrived.
This picture pretty much sums up Dillon on this day...he didn't know what to do with himself.  He was so excited and could sit still or eat.  But he did have a very fun time!  Here is cousins Zach and Gage are sitting together on the left and on the right his friends Lucy and Camden are sitting together.
There were kids everywhere!.  Lucy is trying out Dillon's chair.  Grandma Penny is holding Jason.  One of the twins in in the toy and Cheryl is holding the other one.
Dillon's cake.  He wanted John Deere Tractors this year.  It was funny how he picked it out.  We were looking at a catelog of birthday supplies on day, just to pass time, and he said, as he pointed to the tractors, "that is what I want for my birthday."  So we looked at it several more times, I wanted to make sure it was really what he wanted, and sure enough each time he said "this is what I'm having for my birthday."
This is how 3 year olds smile when told.
He just couldn't wait to start playing with the tractor!
Got them all in one breath!
Zach and Gage paitently waiting for cake to be cut.
Again, Jason got worn out form all the excitment and took a cozy nap on Bob, the imfamous neighbor, Bob.
Present time!
Dillon in his John Deere birthday hat.
All the boy cousins enjoying the toys.
Dillon trying out his new bike from Gram and Papa.
For weeks before his birthday when you asked Dillon what he wanted he'd say "I want a fire station with a fire engine and lots of fire men."  Well we found just what he was looking for, it really is a fun toy to play with.

Camping!

It was time for our annual camping trip to Scenic Beach in Seabeck.  The camping trip is in its twenty-something year!  It has become much less relaxing with the new generation of campers, but they have a great time!

This year there were 8 of the new generation; 6 of them were 3 or younger!!

Our home for a few days...little more crowded this year.
Dillon got his own sleeping bag this year.
All the kids had fun riding bikes...Dillon was looking longingly at Lucy's bike...
He finally got to ride it.  Lucy and Dillon swapped bikes most of the time.  Guess it is always more fun to use someone elses stuff!
The kids had their own table.
They all had fun playing in the dirt.
'Playing' cards.
Dillon and Lucy
Dillon is 'helping' Brooke play dominos.
This was funny.  Dillon was making the crab talk by moving the claw!
More playing in the dirt.
Lucy loved Jason and he liked her too!

Dillon and Lucy at the playground.
Jason had fun too!
We did get some sun after a day of wet and cold weather.

Front Yard Update

Ok, so I am a little behind on updating the blog...August was the busiest month I think we've ever had!! So I'll keep plugging away at postings until I get caught up..you know next year! :)

Anyway, after we got back from Idaho we were getting our yard ready for a excavator to come. Art's friend EJ, that he's known since kindergarten, owns a development company and had the equipment we needed to get our yard upgrade in action. He came out for a few days, most of which I was out at the annual camping trip with the kids so they, basically Dillon, would be out of the way. (I'll post those pictures later).

We now have one big dirt yard, but Dillon thinks it is great! I swear he is covered in dirt head to toe the minute he goes out the door now. EJ let Dillon 'drive' the excavator and scoop up rocks and dirt. EJ showed Dillon what all the handles and levers do. As soon as Dillon was on EJs lap he started moving all the right levers.....before EJ was ready to do anything. Note to anyone who explains something to Dillon, when he is listening he picks up on everything!

Here are some pictures of the progress. The next step is to get a bit more dirt brought in and start putting up the retaining walls. We hope to get the yard to a point where we can put in grass mid-October.

Here is pretty much what the yard looks like now.
Here are the previous before pictures
After the trees were cut down.
Getting ready....
Look how much Dillon is paying attention to what he is doing. He had so much fun! Thanks again EJ!

This is where Dillon spent the entire day when he wasn't out side driving the excavator!
Jason even had fun watching.
