The Nursery is Done

The baby's nursery is done! Except for some much needed wall art (I just haven't found what I want yet) and is all ready and waiting for a baby. I am also waiting for the baby and would be ready at any point; much more uncomfortable this time around and its not even 90 degrees out!

We went with primary colors and an alphabet theme, which I am sure you figured out right away. I know you are thinking "didn't you already have crib bedding from Dillon" and you'd be right. But for me decorating is the fun part. I figure while Art has Husky season tickets, I just decorate a baby's room every few years; I am the much more economical one.

From just inside the doorway.

From the corner where the letter "a" is.

Again from the corner where the letter "a" is. Still not sure what to do above the crib that would be "baby proof" knowing that apparently nothing is "baby proof" from experience!

From the hallway.

I Am Going to Waive the White Flag

I think I am going to have to admit defeat.

We tried a different type of "child proof" door knob covers and Dillon took it right off. This morning he went right out his door came and opened ours (at 6:30 mind you) and said it was time to get up. We happened to disagree and tried to get Dillon to play in his room quietly; which in case you were wondering didn't work at all.

Then later he was in the basement, I was upstairs and Art had come up stairs to get something and go right back down; leaving the gate at the bottom of the stairs locked. Next thing we knew Dillon was up stairs!! If you know our house you know there is an opening in the stairwell and apparently he climbed up onto the stairs easily. On the other side the opening is blocked and now both sides are blocked!!

Then even later in the day he woke up from his nap (in stealth mode) and came right down stairs (someone left the gate open, I am not naming names...).

Random

Just some random pictures from the week.

Dillon getting ready to go to the zoo with daddy. It was cold out but also sunny, guess he wanted to be prepared for everything. The only thing missing were rain boots.
I was painting decorations in the nursery during Dillon's nap. He woke up right when I was about done, but he saw that I was painting so he went and got ready to paint too. Apparently the proper painting attire is a pair of mittens and a baseball cap, I have been getting it wrong all these years!
Take the mittens off and guess you are ready to fix things.
This is how we found Dillon when we went to check on him before we went to bed last night. Not sure how he ended up there, but he was definitely fast asleep!
Also, thought I'd give you an updated on keeping him in his room. Yea, its not happening. We put the door knob cover back on but he always takes it off and leaves his room when he is ready. Guess we either need a different door knob cover or have to live with the fact that he is growing up and can more easily do things now. Not sure which way we are leaning yet.

Jail Break

Dillon has been doing really well in his new room and big boy bed. He goes down for bed time really easily and when he wakes up in the morning he plays for a little bit and then knocks on his door for one of us to come get him.....until this morning. He woke up a little extra early, 6:30, and played until a little after 7. Then we heard him playing with the door knob (there is a "child proof" cover on the knob) then the next thing we heard was the door opening and Dillon saying "Yohoo, where are you guys?" Cute, but darn it I liked it when he couldn't get out. Maybe it was a one time thing?!

Naps don't always go quite as well. It seems he's been taking them every other day. I am hoping when I get his curtains up things will start going better. He just doesn't want to stop taking sometimes and then he ends up playing. It is good that he is at least getting some quiet time, but he doesn't sleep as well as night if he doesn't nap. These naps can't end!!!

Other than that things have been going well. Pretty much the same old routine with a bit more of "me do it" and "no" thrown in. He definitely has his idea of how things should happen, which doesn't always match my idea. We are working on that.

Dillon is getting pretty good at getting his clothes on and off. One morning he had an interesting idea for his outfit.
Ahh, quietly playing by him self, prompted by himself.
Making Valentines for his friends at school.
Nice day at the park, we were the only ones there!
Serious artist.

Dillon's Room

I am finally getting around to posting pictures of Dillon's room. I am still waiting on denim blue curtains, they were back ordered and we should have them by the end of the month. I also want to paint a picture by his bed but need to finish the nursery first. I got the nursery all painted this past weekend (thanks Brooke and Virginia), so now I need to get everything put back where it belongs. I'll post pictures when I've got the room all put together.

I wanted some art work for the wall that matched Dillon's new bedding and found some that I liked on EBay, but then decided that I could probably recreate it myself. So off to Joanne's I went and found canvas, cut outs and paints and made them myself for much less.

From the doorway (Dillon wanted to be in the picture, what a ham!)
East Wall
West wall
This nook originally had a built in desk and shelves, the desk was long gone. So we took the shelves out and made a closet. Well put up doors later when we figure out what height we want and when Dillon will, hopefully, leave them alone.
The new bedding (and again the ham).

It Snowed Again!!!

This morning we woke up to a dusting of snow. It mostly melted by kept snowing and not sticking as the day went on....until noonish. Then it just started really snowing and sticking and within no time we had an inch of snow. When I last checked we had almost 2 inches and there is no stopping yet. Here are a few pictures and the time they were taken to see how fast things changed.

12:30
1:00 - 1 inch
1:45 - 1.5 inches
4:30 - 2inches
