Sweeping the Clouds

Dillon and I were sweeping deck and when we were finished he kept sweeping, but now he was trying to sweep the clouds. It was so cute. He was really trying to reach the clouds but knew they were too high. I got some video of him trying to get to the clouds. Sorry it is sideways, I forgot that you can't just rotate the video clockwise like you can a picture. The audio is what is really cute!

Hide and Seek

Dillon was running around while Art and I were talking and getting dinner ready. Next thing I knew Art told me to come in the living room and I could hear Dillon saying "hide and seek".

Well he opened the cabinet door below the book shelves in the living room and climbed in and had gotten stuck. We were both upset with him but it was funny so, like all good parents I had to take pictures before he got in trouble.

Here is a picture of the whole living room, in case you don't know where the bookshelves are. The are in the far right of the picture and the cabinets are right below the bookshelves.

Dillon Says the Funniest Things

Dillon's vocabulary is huge now. He knows the words to things I didn't know he knew. He is also starting more sentences with I instead of Dillon. Sometimes it takes me a while to figure out what he is talking about, but he is usually very persistent in getting me to understand, so I usually do.

Dillon has a few phrases that he says a lot and make me laugh every time.

"Oopies, Sorry about that, mama." I don't know what he is sorry about most of the time, but this morning he said it because the towel wasn't hung up in what he thought was the correct spot.

"Thanks, pal." or "Thank you, mama." Not sure where the thanks, pal came from but it always make me laugh.

"How about....." He is starting to say this one a lot! The other day I offered orange juice or apple juice, he said "how about...............chocolate milk." He always seems to be thinking of what he wants to ask for after he says "how about".

"No, two more." or "One, more little bit, please." He's figured out what to say at the right moment and usually uses his cute "puppy dog face" at the same time.

This week

Thought I'd just post some pictures from the week.

Dillon is trying to ride his new tricycle. He hasn't figured out the peddling yet, so he gave up and pushed it. He'll have it figured out soon though.

Uncle Craig came over for dinner with mom and dad on Sunday and brought his new boat. Dillon loved it!! He even got to honk the horn.

On Monday Gram, Papa, Dillon and I went to the zoo. It was a beautiful day and all the animals were out. Dillon had a great time as usual and got to ride the carousel for the first time. He liked it so much it was a bit traumatic when he had to get off.

Too Quiet.....

In a house with a 2 year old it is never a good thing for the house to be quiet. The other day while I was cleaning up the kitchen Dillon was off playing and then he was quiet. I went back to his bedroom and heard him saying cheese. Somehow he had grabbed my camera off of the counter and was taking pictures of himself. Not sure he'll be a photographer, but you never know.

First Day of School

Dillon did great on his first day of school. When we got there he didn't want to go into school because he wanted to play on the play ground. Once we finally got into the school he knew exactly what to do: get name tag, wash hands and then play! I stayed for about a half hour just watching him to see how he reacted to all the new kids (there were only three out of 13 that he'd had in class before). He didn't care at all and just wanted to explore. When I told him I was leaving he said he wanted to come with me, but when I told him I'd be back after snack and he should play he said OK. I was fine til I got to the car and then I got a little misty eyed. It was strange actually leaving him. I knew he would be fine since nothing really seems to both him and he loves people.

When I went to pick him up all the kids were playing on the play ground. When he finally noticed me he said "Hi, mommy" very happily and then went on playing. His teachers said he did great. He really wanted to play outside most of class time but he finally understood that he'd get to after snack. I was also a little worried about how he'd act during circle time since the change from playing to paying attention was a bit hard for him last year. But he did great. He really didn't want to go home when it was time and the teacher had to help him to the gate, so I know he likes school. The next morning he got up and asked to get dressed to go to school. He's so cute!!

First day of school picture. Didn't he look happy to have his picture taken? I remember have many of these pictures taken on mom's deck and not always being to happy about it. Guess every kid is the same!

Before school started, he was ready to play.

Play house with the other kids.

Riding the horse after class.

After school we went to my parents because dad was having some work done and a digger was going to be there. Dillon was very impressed.

Dillon Update

Well it's been a while since I've done an update about Dillon. He went to his 2 year doctor appointment a few weeks ago. He is 37 inches (95%), grew 4 inches since March!! He weighs 31 pounds (70%). He had to get one shot, but was a trooper. No more until he's four. The doctor said he is doing great, very healthy and she won't have to see him until he is three (here's to hoping that there isn't a reason we need to go in before then).

Dillon is still very active, but is getting much better at entertaining himself. He loves all his new toys and cooks away in the kitchen (makes us cookies, happy cakes, muffins, anything you can imagine), plays with his cars and trains. Sits and looks through books. The morning after his birthday party he didn't even want breakfast he wanted to do downstairs and play!

He is a chatty Kathy. He is talking all the time! I understand most of what he is saying and if I don't Dillon tends to repeat it until I figure it out. He knows works and concepts that I wouldn't think he would know as a 2 year old. He is always surprising us by what he knows.

He is singing his alphabet now and also likes singing to songs. We were in the car the other day with the radio on and he started signing a long. Who knew he'd ever really paid attention to was was playing in the radio! He does have a very, very good memory. He will start telling me something that happened weeks ago and not leave anything out. He is also counting up to 6. He has knows his numbers for a while but now he understands counting. Didn't even know he knew how until he counted his crayons. Kids really are sponges!!!

About a month or two ago Dillon started not always wanting to be rocked to sleep and asking for the crib. Now all he wants to do after story time is go into his crib. I don't think either Art or I were ready to stop rocking him to bed, we both enjoyed it. But Dillon is all over it and wants to go to sleep on his terms. Sometimes he plays and reads for a half hour before falling a sleep, sometimes he falls as sleep almost instantly. He was taking really long naps, 3+ hours, for a while, but those have seemed to cut back to just under 2 hours. Guess he was having a growth spurt.

He starts preschool tomorrow. I don't go with him anymore, can't believe it. I'll let you know how it goes. I am sure that he won't have any problem with me leaving, but not sure how I am going to be.

Dillon really is a little boy now. When did the baby go away?!

Here are some cute pictures I've taken of Dillon recently:

Weed whacking/blowing the deck with daddy.

Watching the train go around the tracks.

Sitting in the fire engines at the Blackberry festival. I didn't think we were going to get him out of the engine!

Like my shoes?

Got Milk?
