Happy 2nd Birthday Dillon

We had Dillon's 2nd birthday party last Sunday. We were hoping to have the party outside on the deck and lawn, but our summer seems to have fizzled and it pretty much rained the whole day. Dillon was so excited all day. We had told him he was having a birthday party to have him ready for a house full of people. It must have sunk in because the day of the party he was bouncing off the walls from the time he got up. Each time we told him about the party it led to him saying "Chocolate Happy Cake". He was getting a chocolate ice cream birthday cake and he knew it. He was so excited. It was funny how he combined Happy Birthday and Birthday Cake to come up with Happy Cake.

It was a great day and Dillon had lots of fun playing with his cousins and friends. He had even more fun when the presents were open. He was a bit slow at opening the presents and each one he opened he wanted the package open to play with the toys. We managed to hold him off until after everyone left and he had a nap, I know parents are no fun.

Art BBQed hamburgers and hot dogs under shelter.
Everyone eating lunch.

Now it was time for presents.
Dillon loves the weed whacker, so Art and I found one for him. It even came with goggles.
Uncle Craig got Dillon a dump truck which stole the show! It had to be the the family picture.

After all the presents were opened up stairs we took Dillon down stairs for his last two presents. He got a trike and a kitchen. He didn't know which one to go up to first. The both have kept him very entertained this past week.

After presents it was time for cake. The theme for the party was the movie Cars which Dillon loves. So it was a chocolate ice cream/chocolate cake Cars cake. Dillon loved it! He even blew the candle out all by himself, he's no baby any more!

After everyone left it was time for Dillon to take a nap. He was exhausted and fell asleep almost instantly. It was a great day and Dillon had lots of fun. Thank you to everyone who came and for the gifts, Dillon loves them all.

After the rain for the entire day it was fitting that we had a beautiful sunset to end a great day.

We Always Knew Something Would Happen....

....We just didn't know when and what. Dillon plays so rough and moves so quickly that we were basically waiting for him to break something or get a dislocated something. Well we were right to wait for something but weren't right about what.

Saturday morning Dillon was sitting on the floor by the front door looking at the rainbows on the floor made by sun shining through the window. I walked by and said the rainbows were pretty and kept on walking down the hall. Next thing I knew he was running up to me really crying. I finally got to look at his face and blood was coming out of his mouth. My first thought was that he knocked a tooth out, but thankfully that isn't what happened. He did, however, move the tooth next to his bottom right front tooth forward. Not sure what he did to get it to move forward but leave it up to Dillon. It really bled and hurt for about a half hour (he's got a high pain tolerance so when it hurts it really hurts him) and then he was on to other things.

Not really knowing what to do (you don't go to the ER for a moved tooth do you?) we called Dillon's dentist. They must expect calls on the weekend because the call service patched us right through to the dentist. He helped us figure out how bad it was, (even asked us to try moving it back into place! But by that time Dillon had had enough of us looking in his mouth), we talked to him for a while and then planned to see him the beginning of the week.

We went to the dentist, Dillon had his first x-ray taken. So far all is well and we don't expect anything to really come of it. Although we have to keep a close eye on it for the next 6 months to make sure that there is no discoloration or infection.

The pictures don't look too bad, but at the time we thought it was horrible.

Annual Camping Trip

We went out to Scenic Beach for the 20 something annual camping trip. Dillon went last year but was not walking yet so I was curious to see how things went. Overall he did great. It was a bit hard to keep him entertained at times because two of the four days we were there it down poured for most of the day. But we all managed to have fun.

There were lots of other kids there that Dillon got to play with.
Gram bought him lots of toy truck to play in the dirt with.

Dillon wanted to hold Kieran on his lap, he thought it was so funny.

He even got to walk in the woods!
Dillon had lots of fun playing with Lucy:

He loved playing soccer with Mr. Ranger (not the park ranger), I think Dillon tired him out!

Had to make sure that everything was nice and tight on the tires.

Daddy even took Dillon for his first bike ride! Of course then all he wanted to do was ride the bike.
