Childhood right of passage....

Running through the sprinklers.

With the nice weather we've been having lately we finally needed to break out the sprinkler to water the lawn. Art set it up while Dillon watched very intrigued. Dillon started by just putting his fingers in the water, then his feet. I finally showed him that you can run under the sprinkler and not really get wet. Well that is all he needed. He started running back and fourth under the sprinkler and then started running into the sprinkler! He was soaking wet after 20 minutes, but had a lot of fun!!

Armed Forces Day Parade

Gram, Dillon and I went to the Armed Forces Day Parade this past weekend. It was very warm and sunny. I had either been in the parade or gone to the parade for many years before going off to college. It was fun to be able to take Dillon to it. I wasn't sure how long Dillon would last since he was confined to his stroller, but he lasted almost the whole parade, 2 hours! He LOVED all the big trucks and would point them out well before they got to us. He's so cute when he says "big truck" and he also loved the emergency vehicles and would imitate the sounds they make. He also loved the bands and would dance in his stroller. I've attached a video at the bottom.

Waiting for the parade to start.

Looking at the trucks.

At the end of the video he is doing the sign for "more". He really liked the music!

Fun in the Sun!

These past few days have been very warm, upper 80's on Saturday! So we thought it was time to get Dillon some outdoor toys. We got him a little sandbox, wheelbarrow, and lawn mower. I think he loves the lawn mower best. Guess we know what his job will be when he gets a few years older! He had a great time playing in the "sea box" and after he decided it was alright he got very dirty!

We set up the sand box while Dillon was napping and after his nap he saw it for the first time. Great experssion!

"Where did my feet go?"

Nice and dirty and as you can tell he taste tested the sand.

Of course you have to pour the sand on yourself!

Testing out the lawn mower.

He decided he needed to take it to get the mail with daddy.

Putting things away.

Where has the time gone?

All of a sudden it is the middle of May, how did that happen? I didn't think we'd been all that busy over the past few weeks but looking back I guess we were. We went to the zoo, had some friends over for a great late lunch, had a wonderful Mother's Day. I went to Kirkland for work a few days and work in a few days of preschool and I guess it filled most of our days.

Two weeks ago we went to the Woodland Park Zoo with Aunt Cheryl and cousin Gage. Dillon was very attached to Aunt Cheryl and I think Gage wasn't too sure he liked that so he was attached to mom. So Art and I pushed empty strollers. It was a very nice day and we had a great time see the animals. We managed to do about half the zoo before Dillon was ready to leave.

Fun on the ferry ride to Seattle.

Looking at giraffes with Aunt Cheryl.

Riding a hippo.

Looking at the tiger.

We went over to Great Grandma Wolfer's for a wonderful Mother's Day brunch. As soon as Uncle Craig arrived Dillon was attached to him. They went out into the garage to look at the car a lot and then Uncle Craig let Dillon sit in his car; which he loved! Dillon is definetly a car guy!!

Don't you just love Dillon's outfit? I couldn't resist when I saw it in the store. Pictures from the day:

20 Months

Can you believe it Dillon is already 20 months old! Time has gone by so quickly. I've lost count of the number of words he can say. It seems like he learns several new ones each day. He can now go up and down the stairs holding onto the handrail. Good think baby gates were invented or I really would never get to sit! He is really into cars. He hears and sees them go by from his highchair and always points them out when we are out and about. Today at preschool during circle singing time he saw a fire truck go by out the window and ran over to watch it. Then as we were leaving it went by the other way. He watched until it was out of sight. He also loves playing with cars. First thing he goes for a Grams is Uncle Craig's old Hot Wheels.

I have tried to get a picture of Dillon each month standing next to his dresser (since he could stand up). This month he didn't want to but did anyway because after the picture was taken he could look at it in the camera.

Still loves reading. He can now put all the books he wants to look at in his rocking chair and climb up to read them.

The other morning Dillon had frozen/thawed blueberries with breakfast. They were really juicy and left a lot of juice on his tray. He didn't want it to go to waste so he slurped it up. He was messy and even had purple boogers for the day!
When Uncle Ray was up and fixing our door Dillon was watching closely (see previous post down a few). Apparently Dillon was paying really close attention and when he got out his tools the other day he had to get down really low to "fix" things. They really do see and remember everything!!
