Water, Water everywhere

This past week was nice again, after a week of November weather, so Dillon had some fun with water. One day we went down to the pool with cousins Kiera and Zach and aunt Elisa. Dillon liked watching the older kids swim and jump into the water. Then another day I put water in the tray of Dillon's highchair to play with (great idea Gram!). Dillon liked making big splashes.

11 Months Old

Dillon turned 11 months old yesterday; wow, can't believe he's almost 1 year old!!! Time has gone by so quickly. Let me get you up to speed on Dillon's newly acquired skills.

Last Saturday night we were at our neighbors. They had a fan on the floor that Dillon was fascinated with. I moved the fan to the landing on the stairs because he didn't know how to climb stairs..... mistake. He learned to climb the 3 steps to get the fan in about 5 minutes. Then the next day at Gram's, he climbed to the top of the stairs. He sure is a quick learner.

Dillon understands quite a few words now. He knows to "go find your monkey" (his favorite stuffed animal; when he gets it he gives it hugs), "find your book", and to "turn the page" when a book is being read to him. He also knows what apple sauce and yogurt are, so we now spell out those words when discussing what else to feed him. Otherwise he hears it and starts "suggesting" we feed it to him.

He is now a pretty good sleeper; can't believe the day finally came. After almost 9 months of half hour naps Dillon takes a 1 hour nap in the morning and then a 2+ hour nap in the afternoon. He also sleeps 11 to 12 hours a night. It's wonderful!!!!!! I have free time and don't know what to do with it. At least the house is finally starting to get cleaned.

No walking yet. He's cruises around the furniture but hasn't really tried to walk. He's taken a few steps moving from one piece of furniture to a person or pushing a toy, but not sure if that is coincidental or on purpose.

He got a new tooth a week ago, the bottom right incisor. He has a total of 7 teeth now. I was able to get a picture showing most of his teeth while he was eating.

Swimming class is going well. He doesn't mind going under water at all anymore and loves the singing. Still not a fan of back floating, but I think that is because he has a limited view on what he can see.

He loves music so Art will play the guitar for him. Dillon also likes to strum on the strings, maybe a budding musician???

He has taken to dropping things and watching them fall.....his food from his high chair....toys out of his crib....

First Haircut

Dillon's hair was getting long in the front and getting into his eyes. So I reluctantly had his hair cut recently. Dad has wanted his hair shaved for a while now, but all I would allow is a trim in the front....we need to hang on to those cute curls in back as long as possible.

Dillon really enjoyed getting his hair cut. He sat in a little car and got to play with the steering wheel.....he's all boy. He also got to play with the comb when the hair dresser was all done. It's always the simplest things that make the best toys.

All done! Don't I look like a little boy now? And I can see again.

Hot, Hot, Hot

Well it's been a while since we've posted anything new. That is because the week of the 4th got busy and then the following week was very, very hot (100 degrees!!). Dillon faired pretty well with the heat; better than his mom. On the hottest day we spent the afternoon at a local mall since it had air conditioning.

Our Fourth of July was very nice. We spent the day and evening at Gram and Grandpa Berry's. It was a beautiful day; which was a nice treat from previous Fourths. There were plenty of people for Dillon to play with. Dillon had a bit of a hard time sleeping because of the noise from the fireworks. He woke up for a while right before the amature show across the water started. His head was on a swivel watching all the fireworks go off, but he did enjoy them!

We go to a park most Mondays. A recent Monday we went to a park on Lake Washington. It was a nice sunny warm day so Dillon took a dip in the lake for the first time. He has his mother's internal thermeter and didn't care for the cold water at all.

Dillon waved good-bye to daddy for the first time this morning. He is pulling himself up on everything now and is usually very proud of himself. He has started pulling himself upon the toy chest, letting go and putting his hands in the air and then falling backwards. He is able to stand for a few seconds at a time. He also likes to chase Millie, and she usually ends up in a corner.

Dillon is eatting pretty much everything these days. He recently had speghetti and really enjoyed it! He started out fairly clean but he didn't stay that way for long! While eatting Dillon likes to be very comfortable and puts his legs in all different positions.
