10 Months Old!

Jason is now 10 months old! This is such a fun age! Jason interacts with us and is so fun. He is trying to do to one nap during the day but half the time still takes two naps a day. He is actually very easy to put to bed most of the time, still waking up once during the night. But there are becoming more and more nights where he doesn't wake up at all, but then he is up for the day at 6:00 or 6:30! I am so not a morning person!!!

Of course need one with Dillon too! (Dillon had a run in with the end of our gate at the top of the stairs....so glad it wasn't as bad as it could have been!)
He loves to get down on the ground and crawl all over the place, and he is fast! He is still content to play by himself but likes it when we play with him too. For some reason Jason really likes to crawl with things in his hands. He will immediately go for a ball or block on the ground pick it up and then crawl the rest of the time with it in his hands.
Jason now has his bottom two front teeth! I think worst of the teething is over for now but know it will return soon.

Jason stands by himself now! He usually does it in his play pen when he is chewing on something or watching TV (yes I know he's not one yet, but dinner won't cook it self!). I don't think he realizes he standing but he has really good balance and rarely falls over. He also is cruising along the furniture and will walk a bit if we hold onto his hands. He will probably be taking his first steps soon. He tried the other day. He was standing at the coffee table and turned to walk towards Art without thinking for a second that he couldn't walk towards him. He promptly fell down but I am sure he'll try again very soon.
Boys and their remotes! Today I was fast forwarding something on the DVR with the remote and Jason quickly crawled to get his remote (without batteries), aimed it at the TV and started pushing buttons! He looked back and me when he figured out nothing was happening....what is is with guys and the TV?

Not Much Going On

There hasn't been much going on these past few weeks. School has started again and after all the holidays we've just gotten back into our normal routine.

Dillon wants to know when it will be Christmas again, and not for the reason you might think. He wants to go to "night time school" again. A few evenings during December Dillon's preschool had a drop off time in the evening so parents could do some shopping or just enjoy the evening out. Dillon loved "night time school", as he calls it, because they had "really cool nighttime toys"and he got to eat dinner at school. They put out toys that he doesn't normally get to play with at school apparently they made an impression. So now he asks me every few days if it can be Christmas again. And when he sees a house with their lights still up he asks why they still have Christmas and if we can too! Such a funny boy!

Jason recently got his two bottom front teeth (again). He didn't sleep well for several nights and you could tell that his teeth were really hurting him. So we did our best to try and comfort him. Dillon never had any teething issues; the teeth just came right in with no problems. So even though Jason is number two I guess some things are still a first.

You can't see his teeth, but just thought this was a cute picture.

Jason LOVES to pull all the books off the bookshelf one by one.

Jason is also very close to taking a few steps. A few times he's taken steps while holding on to someone and then yesterday he took a step without holding onto anything. Although he had no idea he wasn't holding on to anything because he was concentrating on getting to something.

Jason and Dillon are playing very well together so far. As long as you can keep both of them occupied in a toy and not the each other. Both have pulled the other one down, at least so far it's been gently.

Here is Dillon in his Cars outfit that he got for Christmas and LOVES.

Pretty much every single day Dillon dresses himself in outfits that match. I guess this day he wanted to try something new.

Dillon really wants it to snow and who can blame him! I guess if you get dressed for the occasion maybe it will make it snow? Can you see his bottom lip sticking out? He wasn't happy that I told him that it wasn't snowing.

Jason is trying all kinds of food now and really likes everything! But then again we went though the same thing with Dillon and now he likes nothing!

Here he is eating blueberries.

Spaghetti - wish the picture show it better because he's got little noodles on his face.

9 Months

A few days after Christmas Jason turned 9 months old and is fully on the move now! He can crawl very fast, especially if there is something that he wants to get to. He can pull him self up no problem anywhere he wants. Which is a little nerve racking because I am just waiting for him to hit his chin on something or pull something over on him self. You can baby proof for ever and there are still things that get missed!

As you can see I had a hard time keeping Jason sitting in the chair for a picture!

I finally gave him a book and he stayed for a bit.

Then I was finally able to get one without the book!

Now it is time to also take pictures with Jason standing!

We had Jason's 9 month check up this past week. He weights 25.4 pounds (97th percentile) and is 30 3/4 inches long (95th percentile)! He is a big guy, but proportionate. I just had to look it up and Dillon was only 23 pounds at one year (no small guy either)!

Jason loves to "talk" and look at books, but so far he does not want you to read the books to him. He eats pretty much everything as long as it isn't green! He still loves sweet potatoes in any format and tends to scream very loud when you aren't feeding him fast enough. We are working on teaching him 'more' in sign language but it hasn't clicked yet.

Jason thinks Dillon is the greatest and they are always giggling when they are together and have already started wrestling...which is actually initiated by Jason sometimes!

Standing at the bottom of the stairs, he loves to stand at the gate and bounce and talk.

He loves to stand anywhere!

Here are a few pictures from Jason's 9 month photo shoot at Penny's. He is so cute!

Christmas

We had a wonderful Christmas and it was so much fun to watch Dillon and Jason open their gifts. This year my aunt and uncle from California were up for the week, the first Christmas in a very long time we've spent together. It was so wonderful to have them here, but some how I didn't manage to get them in one picture.

Dillon handing daddy the star to put on the top of the tree.
We stared Christmas Eve eve off by decorating cookies. I started decorating sugar cookies for my parents neighbors when I was in grade school and even though I've moved and they've moved neither one of us have moved far so they still get cookies! Now Dillon helps me decorate the cookies in between "accidentally" getting frosting on his fingers.
We also went down to the waterfront to go through the park that was all decorated. It was very cold, but pretty. The boys liked the lights and these were pretty much the only Christmas lights they saw this year. A few weeks ago we went out to look at lights one evening and about 10 minutes into the drive Dillon fell asleep, and I mean dead asleep! Jason on the other hand started screaming and did so until we were about a mile from home. So this year the drive was a bust, maybe it will go better next year!
Christmas morning started early, just like every other morning in our house! Dillon had fun looking in his stocking to see what Santa brought.
He got a new Cars hat.
Santa also brought him a police helmet that he was very excited about and fifty million twisty ties later got to try out.

Jason enjoyed his stocking too.

Guess he knows what to do with cups!!
The boys in their Christmas jammies.
Jason really enjoyed the bows and paper...no need to get him any toys!
Dillon was very excited about his new Cars sweatsuit. He is so funny!
So happy!
Looks like a tornado hit!
Now we were off to Gram and Papa's for round two. There were stockings at Grams too!
I took Dillon shopping for Christmas presents for people and basically let him decide what to get (within reason because he wanted to Papa earrings and I vetoed that!) While we were walking around the store all of a sudden Dillon says "I want to get uncle Craig that!" I had so idea what he was talking about, so I pushed the cart in the direction that he pointed trying to figure out what he was talking about. Halfway across the store was the Christmas stuff and I figured out it was something there that he wanted to get. I had no idea what it was so I wandered in and out of the Christmas stuff and finally came upon a table that Dillon had pointed to. He wanted to get uncle Craig a Nutcracker, but he didn't know what they were or what they were called but that is what uncle Craig had to have. Knowing that uncle Craig probably has absolutely no Christmas decorations and that this was a funny thing for Dillon to pick out for him in the cart it went! Uncle Craig thought it was funny and it was indeed his first Christmas decoration. Now we'll have to see if he puts it out next year!
Jason again not so excited about the presents; the box and my shoes were much more fun!

Dillon trying out his new tool set from uncle Craig.
When uncle Craig was little he had a metal John Deere tractor that he and I both loved to ride. We road that tractor until the tires were bare! I didn't realize (but knowing my parents I should have) that it had been put in the barn for future use. So this year was the year that it got spiffed up (complete with lots of new parts that you can still order some 25 years later) and was given to Dillon (and I'm sure Jason too) for Christmas this year. Dillon thought it was pretty neat and hopped right on.

We finished off the day with dinner at my aunt and uncles house. Dillon, exhausted from the week, feel asleep in the car on the way there! Needless to say he had a very fun day and the next two days took naps!

Another Dillonism

Hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas. We had a fun time and are exhausted, so much so Dillon finally took a nap today. I was very lazy today and haven't gotten the pictures out of the camera yet but will post some in the next few days. But I just had to post one of Dillon's comments from today so I don't forget it.

He was giving us a pitch on why he should watch a movie that we were saying no to. But then he said "why don't I watch a movie while you cook dinner. You know I am not very good at waiting so watching a movie would be a good idea, don't you think?" (this was said with his head slightly tilted). Art and I were so surprised by what a good pitch it was we didn't even know what to say other than laugh. I'm telling you we are in so much trouble in about 12 years!

Santa Pictures

We went to see Santa at the mall on Friday. Dillon was in a great mood and excited to introduce Jason to Santa. He waited in line great and then when it was actually time to have the picture taken here is what he did. (I am in the picture because that was the only way he'd stand there - by me holding him. Don't think he was scared he was being a three year old!!)
Here is one that was taken right before the one above. Dillon didn't realize the picture was being taken and was actually smiling. As soon as he saw the flash go off he frowned; hence the picture above.
Jason thought Santa was very interesting and was happy as always.

House Builder

Dillon and I built gingerbread house the other day. I wasn't so ambitious as to make the gingerbread myself, but Costco had a really cute kit that came with everything! Dillon had lots of fun and is very proud of his creation.

Getting started
"Look I've got frosting on my finger!"
The house is built and ready for candy! It was so hard for him to wait several hours for the frosting to dry before decorating!
Decorating...or tasting
All done! (By the way his shirt says: "Dear Santa, I can explain!")
